Therefore, the amount of energy lost by absorption to the rest of the material to be dried is minimized.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The following calculations refer to the amount of energy required to evaporate the water alone and should therefore serve as a rough estimate of the total energy you will need to use, as a small part of the energy is required to heat the rest of the material.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>This loss is often low. Furthermore, we assume that the initial temperature of the material is room temperature, i.e., 20 \u00b0C.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The formula for calculating the amount of energy required to evaporate water is based on the specific heat capacity of water:<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>It takes 4.19 kilojoules (kJ) of energy to heat one kilogram of water by one degree Celsius.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Once this energy has heated the water to its boiling point (100 \u00b0C), another 2257 kJ are required to convert one kilogram of liquid water into steam.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The energy requirement calculation for our example (50 kg of water in one hour) results in the following:<\/p><p>Energy required to heat water to boiling point:<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><em>Energy_boiling point = 50 kg * 4.19 kJ\/(kg*K)*(100 &#8211; 20)K = 16,760 kJ<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p>Energy required for the evaporation of the water:<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><em>Energy_evaporation = 50 kg * 2,257 kJ \/ kg = 112,850 kJ<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p>Therefore the total energy required for the evaporation of 50 kg of water is<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><em>Energy_total = Energy_boiling point + Energy_evaporation = 129,610 kJ<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p>Since we want to apply this amount of energy within one hour (3,600 seconds) (remember: drying time should be one hour), the required power results from the energy demand and the desired drying time:<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><em>Power P = energy_total \/ drying time = 129,610 kJ \/ 3,600 s = 36 kW<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-3bbb734 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"3bbb734\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-943deb6\" data-id=\"943deb6\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f0f354b elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f0f354b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.base\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"h5\">4.
